Abstrak

This community service activity aims to improve the legal awareness of underprivileged communities regarding the right to legal aid as guaranteed in Law Number 16 of 2011 concerning Legal Aid. The activity was carried out in Sentang Subdistrict, East Kisaran District, which is one of the areas with relatively low public legal awareness, particularly in terms of access to free legal aid.The implementation method included legal counseling, interactive discussions, and direct Q&A sessions between the counseling team and residents. The materials delivered covered the definition of legal aid, requirements and procedures for obtaining free legal aid, as well as the legal aid institutions that can be accessed by the community. The results of the activity showed an increase in participants’ knowledge about legal aid and the growth of awareness to pursue their legal rights lawfully. This activity also served as a bridge between higher education institutions and the community in order to expand access to justice.Through this activity, it is expected that underprivileged communities will become more confident and capable of taking proper legal steps in dealing with the problems they face, as well as being able to make full use of legal aid services..
