PENGUATAN PERAN ORANGTUA DALAM PEMBENTUKAN KARAKTER ANAK UNTUK MEWUJUDKAN GENERASI BERAKHLAK MULIA

Abstract

The community service activity entitled “Strengthening the Role of Parents in Character Building to Create a Virtuous Generation” was carried out by Universitas Asahan as part of its Tri Dharma mission. This program was motivated by the low awareness of parents regarding their strategic role as the primary educators in their children’s character formation. Many parents rely heavily on schools, apply inappropriate parenting styles, and face limited interaction time due to work commitments. Moreover, the negative influence of social media and digital content poses additional challenges in shaping children’s behavior. Through interactive lectures, group discussions, and shared experiences, the program successfully improved parents’ knowledge, awareness, and skills in instilling moral and religious values as well as positive habits. The outcomes indicate that parents became more aware of the importance of role modeling, effective communication, and supervision, thereby fostering a conducive family environment for nurturing a virtuous and strong-charactered young generation.
