Representasi Prosesi Pernikahan Adat Melayu Batubara (Kajian Semiotika: Peirce)

Abstract


 

The tradition of the Batubara Malay wedding ceremony is still a source of pride for its people because the Batubara Malay wedding procession is a tradition of inheritance. The purpose of this study is to describe the icons, indexes, and symbols found in the Batubara Malay traditional wedding procession, especially in the palang pintu pantun, the nasi hadap-hadap tradition, and the food served in the nasi hadap-hadap tradition. The method used in this study is descriptive qualitative, where later the researcher will describe the results of the discussion in detail, the data sources in this study are primary data sources, namely observation and interviews and secondary data sources are journals and other online sources. The results obtained in the research on the Batubara Malay traditional wedding process through the study of Peirce's Semiotics include: (1) icons found in the palang pintu pantun process, (2) indexes found in the series of events for the hadap-hadapan rice tradition, and (3) symbols found in the food served at the hadap-hadapan rice tradition. It is hoped that the Batubara Malay traditional wedding process can continue to be preserved by students, the community, and the local government.
