PENGARUH PENGGUNAAN MEDIA SANDPAPER LETTERS TERHADAP ANAK TUNAGRAHITA UNTUK MENINGKATKAN KEMAMPUAN MENGENAL HURUF DI SLB OSAKALI ASAHAN
Abstract
This study focuses on the use of sandpaper letters to improve the ability to recognize letters of the alphabet in mentally retarded children at SLB Osakali Asahan, especially in lower grades. This study used a Quantitative Experimental method and collected data through observing children's development using the instruments that had been made. The results of the data analysis showed that the use of sandpaper letters media had significant differences in children's understanding of the letters of the alphabet. Children have difficulty recognizing letters of the alphabet when using ordinary learning methods without sandpaper letters, but when using sandpaper letters, they are able to recognize letters better. In the final learning outcomes, the experimental class that used sandpaper letters achieved an average score of 80, while the control class without sandpaper letters only achieved an average score of 57. This research is expected to provide motivation for special teachers and readers as a reference for further research.
